Another in the "I can't believe there's not already a thread on this board".

Anyway, just a note, this is the del Torro vampire series, NOT the documentary of the same name that follows people suffering from constipation.

The Strain is about a vampire virus that's plaguing New York (and later) other parts of the world.  Season one introduces us to the main character Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, a doctor for the CDC as he investigates a mysterious plane landing with everyone on board but four people dead.  Events lead to the discovery of a virus that turns people in vampire-like creatures (think of the Nosferatu-type guys from Blade II sporting snake-like tongues with teeth and you get the idea.  Introduced early in the show is badass pawnbroker Abraham Setrakian, who has firsthand experience with the virus-having seen an outbreak of it while stuck in a Nazi concentration camp.  There he had an encounter with The Master, the ancient, super strong vampire who's directly behind the current outbreak.

The show is now in season 3 and I gotta say, the first two seasons were pretty good, if a bit slow in the first couple of eps.

Anyone else watching this?

I liked the books, but the TV series is only so-so. Watched about three or so eps before better shows made it fade away.

I, on the other hand, hated the books but I'm enjoying the TV series. The direction is still so-so, but I prefer the way they are developing the plot now, with more space for subplots and secondary characters. And the big scenes in the last seasons have been pretty good too. Nice to see they're not shying away from showing NY turning into this big disaster zone as the situation progresses.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Saw one episode, didn't like it.

The Strain is what I do on the toilet while constipated.  Buggedout
