Woman defends herself with an umbrella against an attacker. 1970s or 1980s

I saw this movie playing on TV once years and years ago. All I can remember was this woman was walking home through a town or city and I think she was being followed and she gets attacked in her apartment or town home. She defends herself with an umbrella against I believe a guy in a suit or something like that. I think it was from the 1970s although it could be from the 1980s and I also think it could be a foreign film. I believe it was most likely either a horror movie or just a thriller. I'd lean more towards thriller.

Anyone have any ideas?

FOUL PLAY (1978)?

Goldie Hawn plays a woman who gets stalked through San Francisco at night by, among other people, a guy in a suit. At one point, she beats him with her umbrella to escape. Her willingness and ability to attack people with her umbrella even becomes a running joke with one of the policemen on the case.
