That's a long title indeed.  TeddyR

This 2014 doccie explores what went wrong when the South African born director of Hardware and Dust Devil decided to adapt The Island of Dr Moreau to the screen, and after all his hard work in pre-production was fired in less than a week into production.

IMO the film that John Frankenheimer made was no more than OK but I would have loved to have seen Richard Stanley's version.

Having seen it, much to my regret. Stanley could not have done a worst job than Frankenheimer (IMHO.) It did make back what it cost to make it or $40,000,000, but it had to rely on the international box office to do it, as it only earned about $27,000,000 in domestic box office gross.

I really enjoyed it-and I think Stanley would have done a fine job-being as he did great on HARDWARE (1990) and DUST DEVIL (1992). And he was going to have Barbra Steele in it too!
As for Frankenweenie-I liked PROPHECY (1979) better than his Moreau-at least that was (unintentionally) funny!

the director of this documentary David Gregory directed a segment in a horror collection I just watched called theatre Du Biazarre. His was the closer and most memorable segment. If you've ever seen American Mary it's kind of like that very weird fetish type horror.
