Well, at least they tried. this movie had its moments but over-all, it was a mess. It was comparable to a sci-fi channel movie, with lots of bad cgi. yes, there are lots of cgi spheres, even giant spheres! though, I do think their hearts were in the right place. most of the original cast was in the movie, and it seems like a serious effort was put in to the movie for fans of the original. I think reggie banister,(the bald guy with a pony tail) who is one of the main actors even helped produce and direct the movie. correct me if im wrong. the story deals with alternate realities happening at the same time, which never works for me because of all the jumping around. movies with stories about alternate realities always seem choppy to me. I read that it had the lowest budget of the series, i think the opening scenes were shot by some fans who volunteered their f/x services. I kind of felt like I wasted my time after watching this.
Apparently, the 5th in the series. Behind . . .
Seen
Phantasm (1979)
Phantasm II (1988)
Phantasm III : Land of the Dead (1994)
The 3rd being my favorite of those seen.
Unseen
Phantasm IV : Oblivion (1991)
Phantasm : Ravager (2016)
I might just have to see these 2, having seen the others in the series.
Just a correction.
While Reggie Bannister has a co-producer credit for this film. Along with his wife Gigi Bannister and several other people. The director was David Hartman. This being his 1st theatrical film credit, as while his directorial debut was in 1998, all of it to date was in TV and/or video.
