What are some of your favorite songs?  Here's a few of mine.

I've been singing this tune to myself for weeks, and have to say it could be my favorite of all time:
GEORGE and IRA GERSHWIN "Love Is Here To Stay"
Small | Large

BEATLES "In My Life"   JOHN LENNON wrote it:
Small | Large

Then again, this might be my all time favorite: KURT WEILL and OGDEN NASH "Speak Low"
Small | Large

A tough one. So many songs, and of course my tastes change over the years.

One that has stuck with me is my now-favorite Beatles song, "Norwegian Wood":

Small | Large

Beautiful melody, and such ambivalent lyrics...

This one reminds me of my misspent youth:

Small | Large

The ultimate outsider ballad?

Another song about being lost in the world:

"Oh how we danced, and you whispered to me,
'You'll never be going back home.'"

And this song has been recorded a billion times, but this early rock and roll version is the best:

I remember singing this at a casino in Reno to a great ovation.  Man, I wish I could sing like that again..

Some more:
I'M SO EXCITED- Pointer Sisters
Not only a great song but takes me back to the glory days of cable TV-- namely, Showtime; that used this song in its promos.
! No longer available Small | Large

HOT STUFF- Donna Summer
Some songs just bring out the disco nut in me!  Rest in peace, Queen of disco.
! No longer available Small | Large

I JUST WANT TO BE YOUR EVERYTHING- Andy Gibb
One of two signature hits for the li'l brother of the Bee Gees-- the other being Shadow Dancing.  I like this better.  Andy was the ultimate "pretty boy" of disco-- young, utterly handsome, great voice-- and ultimately threw it all away (as well as his life) to drugs.

WE LIVE FOR LOVE- Pat Benatar
My favorite song of hers.. I see this as a great roller skating rink song.  Sang this for the karaoke DJ last week and we both love this one.
! No longer available Small | Large

WHO ARE YOU- The Who
Keith Moon was a chronic alcoholic and a destructive, undependable annoyance.  But holy crap could he play drums.  The eponymous album was his final before going to that great barstool in the sky.

Since music is possibly the greatest part of being alive, and so many good songs are out there, that's that's a tough list to make. (I found out two nights ago a dear friend of mine was Pink Floyd-illiterate, and I was too shocked to sleep.)

The End, by the Doors

tonight, tonight, by The Smashing Pumpkins

So What, Miles Davis

Norwegian Wood, by the Beatles (way to many great Beatles songs but that's a keeper for sure)

Money, by Pink Floyd

In The Light, by Led Zeppelin

Jump in Line, Harry Belafonte

Charlotte Sometimes, by the Cure

1979, by The Smashing Pumpkins

If You Wear That Velvet Dress, U2

Wake Me Up When September Ends, by Green Day

Get Right, by Jennifer Lopez (I can't help it, it's Pavlovian, during a happy time in my life I used to wake up and hear this song morning after morning when his TV was set to come on to VH1 doing this morning countdown thing and so I like this song---I am so ashamed, yes.)

Life on Mars (David Bowie)

Shadows in Silence, by Enigma

Okay, I'll stop here.

I don't have an all time favorite song per se though there used to be a time I would play The Cross by Prince religiously (no pun intended), but then again this could also apply to countless other songs.
