"Charlie,we're in HELL!"-"yeah,ain't it groovy?!"

I did it just recently-when I started a thread about how Trump was crazy-I responded to a person with a video of the B'52's playing 'Private Idaho'. Because that meant to me that somebody is living in a compact conservative dreamland.
Of course-I'm living in my own private Idaho if I think anybody beyond me knows WTF I'm talking about!  Buggedout
I AM LIVING IN MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO! I may be close to insane,I think-because I just -s**t comes out of my mouth-and I type it! And I think-I AM RIGHT! But I'm crazy. hahaha. I don't know s**t.I sobered up on a couple of threads-that I started-and read what I did-I deleted them. The 'God" thread-and "Trump is Crazy" thread. I still don't believe in God-I still think Trump is crazy-but I dont feel the need-(unless I'm drunk)-to b***h about this s**t at the MOMENT.
I'm crazy. hahaha. I don't know s**t.I sobered up on a couple of threads-that I started-and read what I did-I deleted them. -but I dont feel the need in my every day life, believe it or not. It's not high on my list of things I'm worried about.-(unless I'm drunk)-to b***h about this s**t at the MOMENT. I don't start these threads to p**s folks off-I start them to make folks think. In this world-I think thats important. To THINK.
Ok I'm done.

Small | Large

I know I'M living in my own Private Idaho. And I live in Michigan-I'm very intospective for a loudmouth.

Hi there!

If by abstract you mean living in weird and the bizarre, then yes in some cases. Others, not so much. As for living in your own insanity, I don't think it's just that; I think it's mostly you showing your displeasure with stuff and letting us know.

I mean-I know what I mean sometimes-I use music or art to put a point across that many folks dont get. I mean-If you have a problem with God and you post a song-or a quote-that seems obscure and means NOTHING else to anybody else-BUT-it means something to you.-I have a deal with that-because I do it all the time in political arguments or theological arguments-and no one understands WTF I'm talking about! Of course they don't! I'm so wrapped up in my own head-I don't care if folks know what -the point-I'm trying to get across. But if they don't get the reference-It's a waste of time! I f**k myself.

Sure, it makes sense, RC. I think a lot of times references to outside sources make good stand-ins for ideas and concepts. I think Jesus was doing something very similar when he spoke in parables. There was an entire Star Trek the Next Generation about a species whose language was structured around communicating in metaphor, and Picard was stranded on a planet with a captain from that culture, and he had to comprehend how to speak with him.

Supposedly people of northern European descent are more likely to skillfully use words to convey an idea, and those of southern European origins respond better to images (or even to the use of many hand gestures when talking). Hence all the great art of Spain and Italy, versus the literature of Germany, Russia, and England, and the poetry of Ireland, where to this day a good speaker can be a chick magnet irrespective of looks.

Though of course saying that about art versus words is very general. Southern Europe has fine literature, and northern Europe has some great art, but that is "supposedly" true in a broad sense.

Anyway, I think you're onto something, RC, and you express yourself just fine.

Nah. I heard from a friend of a guy, would start singing a song when he wanted to comment on something. The song choice, like what you did, is the statement. Clever, really.

Changing the words is perfectly allowable, IMHO.

No.  I think in an extremely literal, straightforward way.  I have tremendous difficulty with abstraction, symbolism, or anything of the like.

None of us here think you're that: we love you as you are - a good friend.  Smile

Besides, people who are totally sane tend to be boring.

I think that's why kids in general like me a lot: not totally sane but not scary either and someone they can trust.
