I just learned of this last week (I haven't been keeping up) and decided to rent it last night. An elseworld tale based on the one-off comic, "Batman: Gotham By Gaslight" - I've never read it myself, but I've learned this makes some changes and additions.

Batman/Gotham City in late 1800s: Batman vs. Jack the Ripper. I really enjoyed this mystery and I thought I had it figured out early, but was glad my initial suspicions were wrong. Love the references to familiar Gotham characters. The atmosphere was great. The fight scenes were pretty good.

Rated R: it's technically a slasher flilm/mystery/Batman film all in one.
