Got this a few weeks ago, and I just finished it this week. Boy, is it bad! So bad, it's hard to list all the problems with this film, but let's try:

-The Wizard is a side character, not the ruler of Oz
-The ruler of Oz is an EEEEEEVILLLL dictator...who's great at looking evil, but really bad at actually doing anything to demonstrate to the audience that he'd a bad guy.  He can't even squash the citizens' attempt at rebellion. He shrinks back into his chair and calls on the Wizard to pacify them.
-There are too few gags.
-Most of the gags don't work.
-Most of the gags go on for too long.
-Why were Larry and Snowball thrown into the dungeon? Why wasn't Oliver Hardy? Why did the citizens of Oz believe Ollie? Why didn't Larry try to defend himself?
-Neither established romantic lead (Ollie or Larry) gets the girl.
-There's no ending! Larry falls off an airplane, and forgets to provide some sort of conclusion to all this crazy plotting.  Hatred

There are some good stunts and FX, but, as a whole, this is a chore to sit through. Please do so and tell me what you think.  TeddyR

I love/hate how Oz was "reimagined" as some kind of Eastern-European country instead of a fantasy land, and this movie is apparently showing you "the real story" of Oz.  There truly is nothing new under the sun.

I actually like it quite a bit! I like strange old silent movies!
Dam-I like this 1925 one better than the 1939 version-and I love that movie!  Thumbup
