The LIVING DEAD GIRL of the title is the beautiful Catherine who rises from the crypt due to 3 morons trying to illegally dump toxic waste into her crypt. Somehow the fumes revive her-and she kills said morons (one with a bloody 3 Stooges eye poke!) and walks in a catatonic state to her old chateau home. Eventually she and her childhood girlfriend Helene reunite-and Helene takes it upon herself to procure fresh blood for her love. The only problem is-Catherine slowly is becoming less zombie-like and more aware of what she is-a living dead girl. And she isn't happy about it at all.

If you go into this film expecting a George Romero or Lucio Fulci zombie movie-forget about it.  In a fact it's more of a vampire  movie. And It's slow. But-! I never found it boring. It's has an odd, dream like sense in parts. Catherine is a monster ,and as she begins to realize what she has become, wants Helene to end her torture. But Helene can't because she loves her.
But never fear,Bad Movie fans-there is lotsa nudity and lotsa blood. I mean LOTSA blood! Fountains of spraying blood, eye gouging,a face melting,an axe in the head, and Catherine's final feast is a bloody mess!
A great film. The first Jean Rollin movie I've seen. Tomorrow I'm going to watch his SHIVER OF THE VAMPIRES (1971).

I like Jean Rollin but this was not one of my favorites. I prefer the erotic vampire movies: SHIVER OF THE VAMPIRES, REQUIEM FOR A VAMPIRE [AKA CAGED VIRGINS], and my favorite is probably THE NUDE VAMPIRE. One called THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTED, with Brigitte Lahaie as a patient with memory loss, is good too.

We have a free movie station on Tiana's ROKU TV called TubiTV (actually-we have quite a few-Crackle and some others a s well),and that's how I caught this. Tonite I watch SHIVER OF THE VAMPIRES (1971)-and I'm going to see if more of his films are on as well.

I saw this last year.  A bit slow-paced, but beautifully filmed and the ladies of the seventies had a certain class and charm today's starlets often lack.

It feels funny describing a movie with that much nudity and blood as classy but the really weird thing is that you're right.
