I hate remakes but this film - a remake of the first film I ever saw - was great.
I wasn't happy with some of the changes from the book and the Sidney Lumet film but all in all, Sir Kenneth Branagh and his cast looked after me and I was very, very nervous sitting in the cinema on Saturday morning. Johnny Depp plays a major league scumbag in the film and people like Daisy Ridley, Sir Derek Jacobi, Dame Judy Dench and Sir Kenneth himself are also good in their roles: Branagh's Poirot is actually quite funny.
Downside of the film: the changes and the fact that most of the supporting cast are dealt with and then discarded, like Willem Dafoe, who at first comes across as a racist ahole and then you see that it is all an act.
Please try and see it in a cinema if you can: it was shot in 65mm.*
*Sir Kenneth was also shot in the film
