Oh boy... I hate political threads, but this is on topic so...

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Accused of being insensitive. One character is a racist and he doesn't the comeuppance some audience members wanted.

Call Me By Your Name The leads play gay men, but aren't gay in real life. (The director is gay; he just thought they were the best actors.)

The Shape of Water Accused of plagiarism.

The Post In reality the New York Times was the 1st to report on the Pentagon papers.

All the Money in the World Kevin Spacey's was accused of sexual harrasment, so his scenes were re-shot with Christopher Plummer. (Surprised Plummer's still alive.)

All of those complaints are silly (except maybe the plagiarism one, I haven't looked into it---but 90% of the time those suits are shakedowns by an author looking to make a buck off a more successful work).

It's totally inaccurate to count THE POST as a scandal, the movie explicitly credits the NYT with breaking the Pentagon Papers story.

Only once in my life,1999, did I see every Best Picture nominee, the ones up for awards in 2000, in other words, and this year I've not seen even one nominated film. I quit watching the Academy Awards when they started feeling less about movies and more about causes. I think people in this era like a sense of angry outrage and that's long since take over awards shows.

Oh my god, a reality based movie with a racist who doesn't get beaten down or suddenly have an epiphany that changes his views?! HERESY! GET THE PYRE BUILT!  GATHER THE MOB!

Racists aren't my favorite people but most of them are just offensive and obnoxious. Not all of them act on their views. Sometimes you just have to live with the fact someone has bad views.

Oh no!  Actors are playing something they aren't actually in real life!  That is literally what every single actor out there does.
