Name some movies 50 or more years old you like.

White heat.  Film noir done to a tee.  Shows us a monster named Cody Jarrett and makes us see he's still human.

War of the worlds.  Yeah we can see the wires,  it's still a great movie. The scene where the colonel get disintegrated managed to be horrifying and holds up today.

Forbidden planet.  The special effects in space weren't equalled until kubrick did 2001abd weren't beaten until star wars.

Metropolis.  Duh!

All quiet on the western front. Didn't glamorize or glorify war. Showed as much of it's horror as it could.

Heh!  Most of my favorite movies are 50 years old.

I almost started a thread about one I watched last night.  Maybe I will.

BONNIE & CLYDE (1967) Still holds up great, still revoltingly violent, depressingly fatalistic, great performances and a completely functioning, pointed screenplay.  Lots of smart decisions that un-date the movie...

Instead of rattling off a long list of movies. Could people list a few and why they still like them?

Same here.
I'd rather watch old B movies on Tubi than new million dollar F/X messes.

2 Louise Brooks films come to mind-

DIARY OF A LOST GIRL (1929) has some surprising sexual overtones.and PANDORA'S BOX (1929) is a close to a horror film towards the end.

So did you like Cleopatra?  I did. Not quote historically perfect but not badly done.
