Andrew Lincoln is supposed to be leaving TWD, and so is Lauren Cohan. Buggedout

They suddenly decided to kill off Carl, and now Rick and Maggie are going too?  What exactly is going to be the point in watching?  Oh, wait, according to the article, they paid a ridiculous amount of money to keep Norman Reedus so he can look greasy, grunt, and throw in a line every now and then. Lookingup

IMO, the show was great early on, but the overall quality has steadily gone down, and then really nosedived in the last season or two.   After this news, I can't see it going on after season 9.  Hopefully, they'll have sense enough to pull the plug before the show is TOTALLY brain dead.

They'll probably have Negan be Daryl's right hand man or something.  Who knows.

This past season was a chore to get through, the highlight for me being Jeffery Dean Morgan as Negan.

I watched it once. A soap opera with zombies.

I watched it once. A soap opera with zombies.

That's exactly what George Romero thought of it.

The last episode I got to see was the introduction of Negan. Although I've enjoyed watching it, I've also been impressed that it manage to last as long as it has. Hope they give it a decent ending.

I quit watching around the time negan began to show up.  The whole thing became so repetitive. Find a home, get attacked, losenhome, group gets scattered, someone dies, group reconnects, find one human villain every season who's worse than the last one, tragic thing happens. Repeat same events next year.

I got sick of the Carl bashing too.

Also the racism got to me. The good guys are a regular rainbow coalition. The bad guys? Snow white. Even then governor who was Mexican in the comic went thru the PC washing machine and came out bleached white. I guess a non white villain would  be offensive.

Lastly, let's hint at an interesting game changer plot development and then never developed it, oh hell no. There is still apparently some government left as we saw military recon forces which "the governor" murdered. Where were followup patrols?  Also very early on rick saw some dead bodies that had not reanimated, tus was shown as was Rick's momentary confusion, and was completely undeveloped.

Hell, "Z nation" is dumb but at least xxxx happens on it, it occasionally has some fun moments. It does not take itself seriously and it's not predictable or boring.

You know what could have saved TWD? A season without yet another boring, unbelievably evil and of course white villain. A season where they focused on fighting zombies! How about they find a nice place to set up in and sure enough a huge wave of zombies is moving in towards them. They talk about leaving but they decide "Not this time!" And actually fight a huge zombie horde. Maybe lure a few thousand into a huge tunnel and collapse both ends to trap them. Bust a dam and wash thousands out to sea. Get some bulldozers running, put armor around the drivers area and send them on a run into the zombies swarm, crushing thousands under the treads.

How would [that/i] be for a different season? But no... Can't change the same formula they'e been using year after year after year....
