I really like the CONJURING series, and I'm looking forward to any sequels.
I also quite like the CUBE movies.
Any recent film series you follow?

I can just about tolerate the FINAL DESTINATION movies, but pretty much every other horror franchise to emerge since 2000 (let's call that 'recent') seems awful to me... SAW, HATCHET, PURGE INSIDIOUS etc

not seen THE CONJURING but I hated ANNABELLE...

I loved the first Feast movie, but they rapidly went downhill afterwards sadly.

Kristi loves the Sharknado movies while I prefer the Mega Shark series.

I won't argue with any of those. As far as FINAL DESTINATION- ugh!

No thanks on any of those MEGA/GIANT VS. movies. Or Sharknado. Or any SyFy channel junk.

It's been a while since a "new" horror movie has really knocked my sox off. Lately I seem to spend more time digging into older horror stuff from the '60s and '70s that I missed out on the first time around.

I used to be way into the schlocky SyFy style Sharknado/Mega-Creature thing, but I watched so many of those over the past couple of years that I'm burned out on them. The forthcoming "Sharknado 6" will be the last one, so I'll watch that when it hits Netflix to finish out that series but then I think I'm pretty much done with 'em.

I have seen several of the Insidious/Conjuring flicks and from what little I remember of'em, liked'em just fine but to be honest, I get those franchises confused all the time. I have yet to see either of the "Annabelles" but I like a good creepy doll flick so they're on the never ending "list" of Stuff I Need To Watch.

I got a kick out of the first couple of "Hatchet" flicks, they were dumb as a box of rocks but they were big dumb old school gory fun. I don't feel any particular need to see the 3rd and 4th ones though.

I actually thought the first Final Destination was pretty badass. The sequels, on the other hand, run the gamut from "meh, it was OK" to "Geez, that sucked."

PURGE
I actually meant THE GRUDGE movies.

seen the first one and thought it could not have been any more generic or boring, as far as 'creepy doll' movies go... (generic I can deal with tbh, but boring, no.)

don't even mention the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY movies... the first one was ok but the first 2 sequels were jaw droppingly lame!

and there seems to be a copycat franchise called PARANORMAL INCIDENT which is up to at least part 4 afaik...

I've seen individual movies I liked, but I'm not sure if I've seen a series I like.

HUGE fan of wynonna earp, preacher, siren, lucifer and the magicians. i'm also watching sleepy hollow, van helsing and rewatching the full run of buffy.

I think the biggest horror from those two is the acting.  BounceGiggle

But yeah, I sometimes like to indulge myself in some of Asylum's worse-than-bad mockbusters. Sharknado was probably my favorite until it got stale, which (for me) was after the third film.

The problem with a lot of modern horror films is that the first movie in the series is decent, maybe even brilliant, and then the whole thing goes off the rail in the sequels.
THE RING was absolutely brilliant and terrifying, THE RING II was moose drool.
JEEPERS CREEPERS terrified me; the sequel bored me.
Same with THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT and BLAIR WITCH II: Book of Shadows.

MIRRORS and MIRRORS II were both pretty good, though.

I can't watch that since I learned the director was a child molester.

Yeah, that put me off it too. I refuse to watch the latest installment and did my best to discourage my friends from going to see it.

I was unaware at the time of the first one; I don't remember if I found out before the second one or after I had already seen it.
My moral expectations of Hollywood are near zero these days.
