Either he's dead or my watch has stopped!

« on: July 25, 2018, 01:35:08 PM »

I watched a few minutes of THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES (1976) this morning... I always LOVED Ten Bears.
"There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see... and so there is iron in your words of life.  No signed paper can hold the iron.  It must come from men.  The words of Ten Bears carry the same iron of life and death.  It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life, or death.  It shall be life."

Always loved Kurt Russell in Big Trouble In Little China. His clueless hero messes up for most of the film.

Tuko in the GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY. He's a murderer, thief, liar and who knows what else-but I like him anyway.

. Jack Nicholson as the drunk lawyer in EASY RIDER.  He's so much fun, and your sorry when he gets killed.
. Gloria Swanson in SUNSET BOULEVARD. She's so regal. And sad, and deluded.
. Lon Chaney in SPIDER BABY. He's obviously having a good time aping his monster heritage. "There's a full moon tonight...!"

Yep. Also Angel Eyes & Blondie. I'd hate to meet them if they were real, but they make for great entertainment.

I like Captain Nemo. James Mason did a good job playing him, & gets too little credit today.

And Davey Crockett as played by Fess Parker. I like his version much more than John Wayne's version of the character.

What did you think of Billy Bob Thornton's version of Crockett?

I'm not sure if I've seen that version of the Alamo; if I have it was too long ago to form an opinion. (I'll have to keep my eye open for the DVD.  Wink)

I've read the movie portrays the characters as more human than other adaptions.

As someone who teaches Texas History, I think it's the most accurate version of the story ever filmed, and very well cast.
I have never understood why it tanked so badly at the box office!
Check it out if you get the chance.

Marshall O'Neil in "Outland", and NO, not because he was played by sean connery and finally dropped an f bomb.

Timothy Flyte in "Phantoms". Peter O'Toole does a hilarious F bomd with his british accent.

Mama in Dredd. She was a product of her world and deserved respect for her strength and will.

Anderson in Dredd. Honestly believed you could make things better. SIGH I used to be like that...

Dredd in Dredd. Seemed to give a damn about the people of megacity one.

Riffraff in RHPS. Expressed sympathy for doctor scott's loss even when he didn't have to, and let him, brad and janet go at the end.

. Peter O' Toole as LAWRENCE OF ARABIA.
. Jeffry Combs as Herbert West in RE-ANIMATOR and BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR.
. I'll second Burgo's DeNiro  pick of Travis Bickle in TAXI DRIVER.
. Anthony Perkins as Norman in PSYCHO .
. Charlize Theron as Aileen Wuornos in MONSTER is some of the best acting I have ever seen.
