This was just on tcm and I have to say for a movie made in 1932 it's pretty amazing,  technically.  While b&w would dominate films until the early 60's,  this was made in color.  Very odd color true,  but color.  This was a verrynewrly color and sound movie and as such was quite a technical accomplishment for 1932.

It has Lionel atwil and fay wray,  playing yet another helpless. Screaming object to be imperiled,  rescued and claimed by the hero.  Sigh.  It also has a good old fashioned mad scientist who is determined to help humanity thru the wonders of what he repeatedly tells us is 'synthetic flesh' which will restore missing limbs and organs.  As part of this laubable goal he has to commit a series of gruesome,  pointless murders because he is, after all, a mad scientist.....  Lookingup

The color process makes this movie memorable and is indeed memorable.  Almost surrealistic.  Still it was a. Movie milestone and deserves respect.

The color process in DR. X  was  2-Color Technicolor. It was used as well in Lionel Atwill's MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM (1933) made by the same company- Warner Bothers.

There's lotsa pink and green.
