Princess Diana died today on 31 August 1997 in Paris. Bluesad

When I was fourteen, I saw a picture of this lady in a book and I think I forgot to breathe for about forty-five seconds until my lungs informed me that they needed to talk to me.  Smile That pic is below.... Breathe, Trev, breathe......

I fell in love with her back then - I believe that she brought love into the life of an unwanted child - and while I respected her for putting her issues on one side and helping others less fortunate than herself, I had a little crush on her too.

I was devastated when she died: shortly after that, I became a blood donor and an organ donor and said that I would follow her example of helping others if I could. I stopped someone from taking their own life in 2016 and this was part of her example to me, even though I never met her.

Rest in peace, my Princess.

She was a class act...they dont make them like her anymore. At least her sons have carried on some of her legacies.

I am also a huge admirer of THE PEOPLE'S PRINCESS.  Until she came along and had her sons, I disliked the entire Royal family.  It is not often that a prominent personality not only matures in the eyes of the world, but inspires.

The summer she died I was eighteen and going through a tumultuous time in my own life but even amidst all the self-inflicted problems I was dealing with I paused to write this in my diary on Monday September 1st:

Since I left Princess Diana died. I heard about it on the radio this morning. I got in the habit of getting news from this tiny little pocket radio while I was on the Appalachian Trail. A shock that news is, to say the least. All TV stations are caught up in this news and are running it to the exclusion of other broadcasts. My gosh, she was so alive and still so young and to die in an accident. No one is safe, not even famous and royal people. It’s sad she died but more than anything I’m sitting here in shock. I’ve not followed her life, exactly, but she was such an icon of this age that it was difficult to go a few days without seeing her image somewhere or hearing about her. In fact it just occurred to my jolted-awake brain that I heard earlier in the week she was attending a charity auction of dresses—was it her dresses?—in Paris. This has to have stunned everybody. It’s major news. Shockwaves.

Indeed: I know quite a few peeps that didn't like her, e.g. my special sister Maggi who cried when she heard the news, despite not liking her.

Nice: I've never believed that the "accident" she died as a result of was just an accident.

My friend used to work search and rescue. Before he joined up William visited them and stayed the night seeing them on operations. Apparently he had very good porn on his phone, but anyone someone put on one of the Jason Bourne movies and everyone was laughing and enjoying it until some car chase scene which apparently goes through a certain tunnel in Paris...

Buggedout That must have been awful.

I remember watching the film Ronin (1998) almost a year later: there's a chase scene through Paris and in particular through the tunnels: I nearly vomited in that sequence/  Buggedout
