Most of High School I spent at Lawton, Michigan. The Blue Devils!
I did good until I discovered drugs in my junior year.
Then I was all over the place. In fact, I left Lawton, hitchhiked to upstate NY. Liberty NY, in fact. I ended up in the Bronx.
I went to De Witt Clinton High School (all boys school- it wasn't co-ed) for about 3 months. I quit after there was a riot because NYC went broke and the schools cancelled the sports classes and games. I just sat in Poe Park and drank with my friend from Brazil.
I came back to Lawton, went back to school, and quit in the very last month of my senior year. I got in a fist fight with my history teacher.
I couldn't handle people at that point in my life. This was in 1976-1980.
When I quit school I quit drugs. I went to work in a factory. And I started drinking. Because everybody at the factory drank.
Even the bosses drank. We would all go to the bar after work. I drank anyway...not that much, but a lot more once I started working at the factory.

Went to a place called Auchenharvie Academy. It was considered to be a rough school which covered two towns Saltcoats and Stevenston. Stevenston is further split into two sections known as the top end and the bottom end. Each of these places had their own gang and arranged fights with kids from other schools (no idea how they did it pre internet and mobile phone days, but they had some way of doing it). If you were caught by one of the other gangs you'd get what was known as a "chib", where you'd get the side of your face slashed open from the temple down to your jaw. Some of my classmates had several of these marks.

I spent most of my time refusing to get involved in something that seemed so pointless.

There were some dedicated teathers at the school (although there were also some downright useless ones). Anyway, I stuck in as best as I could, got some decent grades and got the hell out of there.

(no idea how they did it pre internet and mobile phone days, but they had some way of doing it).

That always seemed amazing to me. Not about pre internet. But folks who cant understand pre internet.
Internet is NEW.
We TALKED to people. Like in person.

And we had telephones. We just didn't carry them around with us like they were a part of our body.

I've NEVER owned a cell phone.
Or, if someone was far away, you wrote a letter. How many people on your Facebook page do you actually talk to?
I'm guessing not many.

I don't want to see most of them f**kers anyway.

If you can imagine a layer of the 666 levels of the Abyss where Orcus hangs out, nice place by Abyss standards but still essentially in Hell? That was my high school, nice, I guess, but still a hellscape of sorts, as high schools are. Cocaine-fueled cliques and great expectations was what it was about, a place where you were raked over the coals for any mistake or underperformance, all inside a giant pressure cooker that only had one release valve and that was getting out of that madhouse so you could breathe again. It either broke you, bent you, reshaped you or you went slightly warped resisting and hanging on to some part of your self-identity. Not a fun place.

Edzachary!  Edcellent!  (Which is higher than "excellent").  ER, yet again you prove honest.

I still have one friend from High School.  The rest, I'm with RC.  I don't wanna see 'em.

We moved my freshman year to the town of Quinlan, TX,  and I went to all four years of high school there.  It was a school with a heavy drug culture ("Freaks"), a big athletic program ("Jocks"), and the balance of the student  body were hard core country western types ("Goat Ropers").  I was a quintessential nerd - video arcades, collecting arrowheads, and spent my freshman year pretending I was a World War I flying ace, right down to wearing a cap and goggles to school.  I didn't really fit into any of the cliques, but I wasn't bullied very often, got decent grades, and made a few close friends.  It wasn't the best time of my life, but it wasn't too bad, either.

Went to HS at Beaverton (Oregon) High School for one year.  Had trouble with stepmom and a**hole dad at home so I moved to Seattle area with mom and stepdad for 2 years at Thomas Jefferson HS.

I hated HS.  I don't get why people often wish they were young and back in school-- maybe that's just for the people that were popular back then.  I hated school-- every damn year I was in it, not just high school.  Fitting in, getting good grades, putting up with a**hole teachers and students.. screw that.  I'm MUCH happier as an adult with a job and bills.  I get home from work and then do whatever the hell I want.

Hi there!

I went to a really hard high school in the city. Not the hardest, probably the second or third hardest. Personally I liked it besides English and Spanish, since I'm not good with rules and how to write. I can spell, just not write. As for having nostalgia..... maybe? I kept to myself since I was going through some mental and physical hardships at the time, mostly me having a war with myself over me crossdressing and hoping.

I went to Saugus High in Saugus, Massachusetts. I was one of the "clean" kids . . . didn't drink, smoke or take drugs . . . did well in my classes . . . stayed out of trouble. I didn't really start drinking on a regular basis until I was in my early 20s. Didn't really drink excessively until the early 1990s. I went out drinking with friends 7 nights/week for a couple of years. Spent a lot of money and drove my car many, many times when I was way over the legal limit. Stupid. I'm surprised I didn't get arrested or kill someone (including myself). I'm 54 now and don't drink much anymore. On rare occasions when I drink too much, my wife is the designated driver.

My husband hasn't gone to his high school reunions but  after his tenth reunion a girl he used to know sought him out and told him that at the after-party one of their former classmates got blotto drunk and told her that one night circa 1994, he and his friend from another school were going to kill my husband in a hit and run over a grudge involving a girl.

They knew he walked down a certain semi-secluded street at night coming back from an evening job on the main stretch through the town, and their idea was to run their car into him and drive off and they figured they'd get away with it.

The guy confessing this ten years later seemed unclear on why they didn't go through with their plot, and hearing this my husband laughed it off, but jeez, man, run someone over with a car over a girl? Overreaction much? High school is insanity!
