Happy Halloween, dear friends! (It's almost noon, I can't believe no one has posted that yet!)

For the first time since I moved into this place, I'm depressed, & really don't feel like facing the night tonight...

General question for everyone here; what do you believe is the true origin of Halloween?  There are several origin stories and each one  has propononets and opponents.

The popular one is it was an ancient custom in Ireland and some other countries to offer an annual app easement tom"evil spirits" in order to essentially bribe them into not harming villagers in the coming year,  and often children would dress as goblins and imps to accept the offerings.  Some refute this without offering an alternative.  I tend to think it may be partially true.

What do you think of Halloween and where it comes from?  As far as i'm concerned if jack chick was against it I will give out candy on it just to flip him off.

A friend of mine from way back (1978 to be precise) came calling.

Needless to say: I moved and quickly.  Wink

What do you think of Halloween and where it comes from?  ...

It's spelled "Samhain" but all the literati pronounce it "Sowen".  It became Halloween because it was All Hallows' Eve or Even which got shortened to Hallowe'en, and the apostrophe was dropped.  Today is All Saints Day or All Hallows Day; tomorrow is The Day of the Dead, or, All Souls Day.  Happy New Year!  The Church appropriated many existing festivals in order to place Christian holidays into the calendar conveniently.  Time for Saturnalia... Merry Christmas!

Me and Tiana were busy!  Thumbup
We dressed up and handed out candy.
Tiana was a bat and I was a vampire.
It was lotsa fun.
And Alice Cooper was playing all scary music on his radio show! So my busted up (but still jamming!) boom box was kicking out the Halloween jams! First time I ever seen Tiana dance to Blue Oyster Cult!  Buggedout
