How is your Mom doing?  I thought of her today.

I found out Sunday night that a lady I love is very ill, in the lungs, I saw her yesterday.  We were able to tell each other we love each other.  I've known her most of my life, distantly, and only really befriended her after my sister in law (Gayle) died and Karen (her cousin) was my rock.

Thanks for asking.
She has moved in with my brother and is living comfortably there; I drive over to see her every Friday.
So far, she's experienced no pain and hospice workers are coming in every day to attend to her needs while my brother is at work.  She is getting a bit weaker, but outwardly she shows no sign of the cancer that is killing her.
I'm glad - VERY glad - that she's not hurting.  But it's kind of surreal that there is simply no outward sign that she is sick.

Sad to hear. But she has had a good long life and raised a loving son.

We all lose our parents sometime. With my parents in their 70s, my time is coming soon. I think about it a lot. But I've been extremely fortunate to have them around this long.

Me too: lost Dad in 2008 and if it weren't for all of you (the support you gave) and my special niece coming into the world in July 2008, I wouldn't be here anymore and by 'here', I mean on this earth.

Today the Estate Sale folks cleaned out Mom's apartment.  She'd gotten all the stuff she needed for her room at my brother's house, and all four of us had gone through and gotten the things we wanted to remember her by.  Now the rest is packed up and gone, to be sold to total strangers.
It was an odd feeling, turning in my key to her place to the apartment manager.
