Terminator 6, called "dark fate" is expected by year's end and will reportedly ignore the 3-5 terminator movies and take up after judgement day.

Arnie and Linda Hamilton are confirmed.

The title dark fate seems to be a ref to judgements day's 'no fate but what we make' meme.

The Terminator movies kind of lost their way after T2, which was one of the best movies I'd ever seen, and possibly even now. The sequels seemed more like spin-offs than canon. This could be interesting.

Would be good if they could get these films back on track, or just kill off the franchise permanently.

I could see killing the franchise.

I'd like to see it end with another time loop and again skynet's existence can't be aborted,  and our heroes  from the future realize skynet is going on line again,  starting a new war in a new timeline,  but someone gets on a terminal and begins taking to the developing skynet.

He tels skynet that humans and skynet have been trying to destroy each other in timeline after timeline,  and failing,  creating and deleting timeline after timeline,  but each always returns to the war between skynet and humanity starting and being fought over and over again.

So the guy suggests it might be time for skynet and humanity to stop trying to destroy each other and try to live with each other. Find a way to coexist, be cause the wars are doing nothing for either side

After the guy is done talking you  hear  the speaker on the terminal key up,  and  a sound like an electrical sonic voice learning to talk says something like "Iiiii" and he movie ends.

One of the issues these franchises face is how they continue with something fresh, after creating a new and compelling concept and execution. Take The Matrix for example. Nothing like The Matrix had been done before, not with that combination of concepts, camera effects, stunts and general execution. People were talking about it for months, movies and TV shows were inspired by, or ripped off, ideas from it.

So how do you make sequels with a similar wow factor? T2 was insanely good, and again, had concepts and execution that had never been done before. The sequels didn't have that wow factor because it's so difficult to top or even maintain something of that level.

Even the Michael Bay Transformers franchise suffered from this. It's the best movie of the franchise and attracted a lot of attention. You can tell how much care was put into production. The sequels became progressively worse. I haven't seen Bumblebee, but reviews suggest it takes a fresh look at the Transformers and is pretty good.

It's funny, years ago an Australian guy claimed to have written a screenplay called Minotaur, and said that the liquid metal Terminator's abilities were based on concepts he wrote about. I can't find the original article I read, but Kourtsis said that his kids watched Terminator 2, and said the T-1000 was doing things like his Minotaur creation.
