Ya know what's funny?  The next day I watched 7-9 and that was worse even though it didn't take as long.

I've been watching clean through one horror franchise each Halloween season for the past few years.  I think Hellraiser might have the lowest quality ratio of any of them.

well lately i've been watching 2 movies in a row i haven't done 3 just yet cause i tend to not figure out what i even want to watch when it's late at night.

i can spend hrs trying to figure out what i want to watch and not making up my mind until it's like midnight and it really is annoying me to say the least

I have all my movies listed on IMDb. When I can't decide what to watch I run through my list with IMDb filters or a combination of filters: year of make, keyword, director, awards, genre or genre combination, popularity, number of votes, IMDb ratings, my ratings, soundtrack, golden raspberry nominations, box office or running time. There are countless search options. This is a great tool if you're planning to do a movie marathon, marathon with a specific actor or director or composer or themed double features. I always end up finding something to watch.

I was going to say Leprechaun but at least those have Warwick who lightens the blow a little. Still by the time you get to the WWE one though Warwick peaced out. That film is painful.

In different occasions, both THE LORD OF THE RINGS and THE HOBBIT extended trilogies in one go. It's really a trip, after 10 hours of fantasy you go outside and have no idea what the hell is going on.

8 -- years ago one day I on YouTube I watched all 6 of the Star Wars movies at once, which was epic, and followed that up with 2 other things I can't remember

For a few years, I did 24 hour movie marathons at the beginning to Halloween for me and my friends.

That's like 16 movies in a row.

How'd you end up picking the movies?  I've thought about attempting this sometime.

Every movie you pick needs to be the most "bang for your buck" choice possible.
You don't want to watch Son of Godzilla if you can watch Destroy All Monsters.

Don't double up on your genres.  You get one old dark house movie, one animals attack movie, one psychological horror, one angsty vampire movie, one post modern 90s slasher movie, one giant Japanese monster movie, etc

Avoid anything longer than an hour and a half.  You want to get as many movies into the time frame as possible.

Pick around 25 or so movies to bring to your marathon.  Let your guests take turns picking which movie to watch next.

Start with a classic, something that just screams Halloween.

(Feel free to ignore these rules if there's one flick that you just HAVE TO show your friends.)

on how i keep my movies, well my Original's the ones i have bought at stores or were given i put all of them from A-Z i put my video games that way too, never my cd's that would take forever & my burnt dvd's that either i made or were given i never put those in any order.

i have a note book i've been writing in and i am writing down all my movies, from my VHS's to my DVD's, burnt and orignal to my blu-ray's.  it's all game and so far i've written over #2,000 movies in it!  but it does happen that i write something in more than once and have to use white out to fix it. oh well.

doing lists like that helps me relax ya know? on how i try and find a movie, sometimes i search you tube if i am to damn lazy to get out of my computer chair cause i have a PC.  and if i learn of a horror movie i'll watch the trailer and sometimes if IMDB says it's 2.0 rating if i'm not in the mood to be ready to pull my hair out on how bad a movie is  i  move on to the next one. i watched a really good one last night called "The Ninth Guest' (1934)  a mystery that one if you love old mystery is worth watching guys. it's little over an hr long so it's not to bad

Actually sit and watch?  I'm liable to not sit thru one movie these days.  Back in the '80s Friday or Saturday nights would often be video store rentals, booze, pot, and hours of movies with friends... 5, 6 in a row, maybe more.  Lots of BAD movies especially then (bad for you, badly made).  I did watch a lot of Christmas movies on Dec 24 2018 as TCM had them back to back... and we had a house guest who hasn't seen many classics but loves movies.

Back in video rental days all night movie watching wasn't uncommon. I guess the "newness" of renting movies and being able to watch them as you please made marathons an easy thing to do (not to mention being younger back then).

When I did my eight movie marathon a couple of years ago I was actually struggling at times. We're talking about at least 12 hours of cinematic running time without counting the breaks between each movie, which were important for stretching out, grabbing food, toilet run etc.

Nowadays I restrict myself to double or triple features. Much easier to manage and the attention span doesn't suffer  TeddyR
