"American taliban" soon to be released. Maybe.

Those of you with a few decades on your clocks may well remember John Walker Lunch, the 19 hear old american who converted to Islam and joined the taliban in afghanistan. Later taken prisoner by american forces after 911 and chert d with a boatload of crimes, he was offered a plea deal that involved a 20 sentence with no parole.

Well, this may he is scheduled to be released and plans to move to Ireland where he has gained citizenship due to some quirk in Irish law involving his grandmother's citizenship.

He may or may not have killed and Americans. He was at a site where an american named Mike Spann, a paramilitary CIA man, was killed. He was a traitor by many standards.

He's done nearly 20 years hard time under a gag order keeping him from talking about his interrogation. Hecs been in prison half his life.

I expect his possible release to be amedia circus, with plenty of protestors and peolle posting violent fantasizes about hunting him down and killing him.

I expect the thing in the white house get involved, possibly have him detained upon release under the patriot act to appeal to its base.

He was likely a traitor to some degree. Still, there's no proof he killed any americans directly. The federal gocernment let Sammy the bull gravano confess to the murders of 19 Americans and get a 5 year sentence.

I just can't seem to feel much about Lindh's upcoming release. I'm slightly surprised I just can't seem to care what happens to him, whether or not he actually is released, which I doubt, or detained at least for the duration of the current occupant of the white house, or possibly killed in some way.

I know people who have committed for more egregious acts than him have served less time than he has or been found not guilty. I also know he allied hums of with an evil, fascistic, totalitarian religious fanatics movement that wants to impose a 7th century theorcrstic dictatorship on the world.

I just find it odd that I can feel so little about his upcoming release.
