Alternatives to facebook?

Assuming you're getting ready to join the "F--k Zuck!" club, what alternative to social media do you prefer and why?

(BTW, it occurs to me that someone wanting to creater an alternativet to fb could just call it "F--kZuck.com" and be off to a great start.)

I'd recommend badmovies.org.

Facebook is a "must" because everyone is on it. No other service has that userbase, which is really its only draw.

The kids use Instagram, but that means little if you're not in that age demographic.

Maybe reddit, though it's pretty carved up into specific niches rather than a place to socialize generally.
