Hanniger! I'll be waiting in HELL for you!

« on: May 20, 2019, 03:39:19 AM »

Hey all.

I think we probably had some topic like this before.  I just can't seem to find it.
So.. let's post pictures, or video clips, or maybe if we can upload newspaper clips we might still have laying around, or just your memories of the event (and/or what you were doing at the time if you like), of any major news event of past or recent history.

Wow, here is a doozy: The Kennedy assassination.  This video clip is of the soap opera AS THE WORLD TURNS being interrupted during the early afternoon of Nov. 22, 1963.  Walter Cronkite of CBS News is on the scene during a CBS News Bulletin to fill us in on the details of the shooting of Kennedy during the motorcade in Dallas.  Very chilling.

.I remember the first moon landing. They rolled a TV set into our classroom, and we watched it live.
.I remember when Reagan got shot. I was watching TV in my Uncle Ron's basement. I ran upstairs and told Uncle Ron, and he said- "Good!"

The first moon landing was in July... You turned 7 that August, 1969... does this make sense?

Yeah- I was in 2nd grade- that makes sense. In July? why was In school? Maybe because I was in the Catholic orphange, and NOT in school! Dam...I'm getting old.
Yeah, because I seen the YELLOW SUBMARINE at the movies...

.I recall watching the airlift out of Vietnam, because it ran into Scooby Doo with a new flash.
.I recall, the Manson trial very well.
. I remember when Nixon resigned, because me and my Dad were gonna watch DRACULA with Jack Palance, but it got cancelled, because that cocksucker was crying and sweating on TV.

I remember watching the first moon mission in my living room. I was 5 years old. I remember watching hours of news commentators interviewing scientists and other experts. It was boring for a 5 year-old kid (except when they were using models of the space capsule and lunar module to explain stuff). I remember my mother saying, "Watch this! It's history!" I don't really remember the moon landing itself, but I remember all those hours of special news broadcasts leading up to it.

I remember where I was when the horrors of 9/11 happened: at about 2:45 pm our time, I was on my way home and stopped for some take out food, went home, turned on the TV and you all know the rest. If I had eaten that food after seeing those planes hit the towers, I would've thrown up.  Bluesad

The commercials on station KTLA in Los Angeles are interrupted during the afternoon of August 16, 1977 with a news bulletin reporting of Elvis Presley's death at his Graceland home.  The newscaster mistakenly reports Elvis as being 45 at the time of his death (he was 42).

I remember as a little kid the news update on the death of John Wayne in 1979.

Walter Cronkite again announcing the death of a famous American icon, on CBS Evening News:
