Star Wars Rogue One Prequel Series To Begin Shooting Soon

Star Wars fans have a lot to look forward to in Disney’s upcoming streaming platform, Disney+. Lucasfilm is preparing two different series – The Mandalorian by Jon Favreau and a prequel series based off of the popular Gareth Edwards Star Wars entry, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Now, as Lucasfilm prepares to debut Favreau’s live-action Star Wars series later this year, word on the street says that production on the Rogue One prequel series will begin soon enough.

The series is set to focus on Rogue One’s Captain Cassian Andor, and Mexican outlet El Siglo de Torreon has just noted that the character’s actor, Diego Luna, has already received the scripts for the project. According to the Rogue One actor, production on the series would begin “soon.”

"The problem is that I have to look younger, it's a prequel!" Luna shared with the outlet. "With a lot of exercise, organic lettuce (laughs), keep me as young and healthy as I can. The amount of work that is done is brutal.”

The early production doesn’t seem like much of a surprise. Last December, trade outlet Production Weekly claimed that the Cassian Andor series would begin shooting in October.

Of course, it’s also likely that the project could begin production even sooner. Disney may want more Star Wars shows ready for its streaming site.

For those who haven’t been following the news regarding the series, the Rogue One prequel is going to follow the adventures of Cassian Andor as a spy of the Rebellion.

Here’s a description of the show:

"The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire. A release date for the series has not yet been announced."

The Rogue One prequel has yet to receive a release date. Star Wars: The Mandalorian is set to debut on November 12 on Disney+.

We're getting a prequel to a prequel now?  Don't you think we're getting a little carried away here?

If you ever want to really upset a Star Wars fan tell them they are doing a sequel to Rogue One and then just see how long it takes them to figure it out.

I said this about the Matrix, and I'll say it again about Star Wars. They are milking the franchise until its udders are like shrivelled beachballs. In fact, the milking of Star Wars is even more egregious with the Solo movie, which has apparently done pretty badly in the box office. Even the fans are waking up to the fact that the producers don't care about them or the characters, they just want to make money.

Ironically, the prequel/spin off Rogue One was better than the The Last Jedi, and more enjoyable than The Force Awakens.
