Mel Brooks is responsible for High Anxiety
And MEN WITH TIGHTS.
In fact, I would say that after SILENT MOVIE (1976) he just went downhill. I think AIRPLANE kinda blew him out of the water. That and the NAKED GUN.

Tim Burton directed the 2001 Planet of the Apes remake

That reminds me of another of Tim Burton's films "Mars Attack." Despite all the acting talent in it, that is his one film I find unwatchable.
And Burton's Big Fish had none of the insouciant joy of its contemporary, Crossroads.

I feel really weird because I love a lot of the movies you guys are mentioning, lol. MARS ATTACK, MEN WITH TIGHTS (well, this one is just ok), NAKED GUN, AIRPLANE, those movies are so much fun.

I think Men in Tights is ok, I liked Dracula Dead and Loving It --- but I haven't seen it since I was in high school or the early 2000s
