There was this comic writer called fletcher hanks who in some ways was basically nthe ed wood of the comic world.
He only wrote comics for a few years but his volume of work was astounding. His quality of work was absolutely mind meltingly bad and the stories make most of ed wood's movies look intelligent and coherent.
Hanks was not a good man. He was an abusive alcoholic who robbend and abandoned his family. He died drunk on a park bench in 1976.
He also didn't have any commitment to his work, having only lasted a few years in the field.
Like ed wood he achieved cult status after his death.
His work was absolutely stunningly bad both in art and writing. It's so bad it creates a whole new sense of surrealism. It almost literraly creates a whole new dimension of badness, it's like a parallel universe of unbelievably bad art and impossibly bad writing. Reading his work will make your mind reel from the overwhelming brute force of it's badness. You'll feel like you've been hurled into an alternate reality of bad comics.
His career had some notable points. He is credited with creating the first super powered female comic character, Phantomah, mystery woman of the jungle. His characters and their obsession with inflicting horrific and sadistic punishments on evildoers likely inspired the spectre from DC comics.
His works were collected in two volumes, "I shall destroy all the civilized planets" and "you shall die by your own evil creation".
