It's maybe the perfect Hollywood movie.  It's a movie movie.  You don't know what you're missing.

But they sing all the time, ew.
I don't like musicals particularly either.

I don't like musicals mainly because they never have flying monkeys. OZ has flying monkeys, so it gets a pass.

Not big on musicals myself, but WIZARD OF OZ is fun, and the Ramones' ROCK AND ROLL HIGH SCHOOL is even funner.

I don't love the PRINCESS BRIDE. I avoid that movie like poison ivy.

We part company; THE PRINCESS BRIDE is wonderful.

I can't say I "love" M and seriously, "everybody else" does not.  It's a great and important film, but hardly a crowd-pleaser.

Yeah a movie with a child killer you end up feeling bad for? That messes with your emotions.
Now KING KONG (1933)? Yeah. Nobody said KING KONG yet... but yeah. the 1933 version of Kong-if someone don't like that ("oh-it's in black and white", " it's old.") are just plain ignorant.

I agree it was about time somebody mentioned KING KONG.  I just watched it not too long ago.  It never gets old, just better.
But, taste is in everybody's mouth, and maybe someone somewhere...

What about the ALISTAIR SIM A CHRISTMAS CAROL (1951)?  Does everybody love it?  It's definitely a favorite of mine.  I love it.

^ That's the best Christmas movie of all time. That last ghost- who points at the grave-DAM! That spooked the s**t out of my little ass when I first saw it as a little kid!  Buggedout

But I loved this one too. It was on UHF channels alot.
Like the Little Rascals and the Three Stooges.

the 51 version is my fave too, although i just watched the 35 version with seymour hicks who is also a fabulous scrooge. and LOVE the princess bride!
and i don't LOVE 2001, it's just okay. a christmas story, nope, didn't like it. and a BIG no to the godfather movies , shawshank and green mile too.
how about animated stuff? alice in wonderland 1951 is a fave for everyone i've ever shown it to, along with the original snow white. and the point. and the phantom tollbooth.
LOVE wizard of oz, of course. and king kong 33. and heaven can wait( original), death takes a holiday(original) and a little known movie called on borrowed time, which i'm STILL trying to find a decent dvd copy.
