I know you don't like Black Sabbath John- but this is a great song!

I dunno- the transitions in the music are amazing.

From interviews and Ozzy's autobiography, it seems to boil down to this:
Tony and Geezer both say that Ozzy wrote the lyrics.
Tony says " Geezer and Ozzy were running around a park stoned, and saw fairies."
Geezer says " It was about skinheads."
Ozzy says " I don't know what it's about, but they tell me I wrote it."

Skinheads called OZZY a "fairy" because of his long hair... about 50 years ago!  He was wearing boots.  Damn that live is not bad; listening now.

^ Holy Moly! You like it? I'll push my luck with NIB live.

With Black Sabbath it's all about mixing it up- they go from one groove to another. Seemlessly. The were great musicians as a whole. Ozzy on his own sucked. And Sabbath without him sucked. It was a perfect storm in 1970.
One of my favorite bands of all time. And they didn't get played on the radio. This was not Janis Joplin.

"NIB" is one of those droners of theirs which barely qualifies as a song.  It's definitely more interesting live.  I think it's from their first album.

^ Regardless of the song, the musicianship can't be denied. They just were not just a bunch of stoners . They had something to say- and they said it in a very unique way.

Alex

Just for RC, this is my favourite Sabbath song. Sure it tails off, but that opening always gets me going.

^ I love all Ozzy era Sabbath!
That song goes from heavy metal from the get go and towards the end mellows out.
It's usually the other way around. (think Led Zep- STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN.)

Yes, they had to recount their acid trips... and for decades can't explain what the hell they were writing about or sometimes who wrote it!
