Albert Uderzo passed away at the age of 92. If you know comics, you'll know Asterix. I have the complete set of Asterix books, and they were hugely popular at school. The crazy punny names, the ludicrous plots, it's like a lighter version of Tintin, another much loved European comic.

Not only has his character Asterix given rise to a successful series of comics, but also a successful series of films. Both adapted and original stories. Both animated and live action. Both black and white and color. Both movies made for TV and theatrical films. 15 films between 1967 and 2018, and that does not include the upcoming Asterix and Obelix : the Silk Road.

Though, perhaps, more impressive, it has spawned the theme park Parc Asterix, which is 22 miles north of Paris (France) and with its 2M visitors a year is 2nd only to Disneyland Paris as the most visited theme park in France. While I have been to Paris (France) I have never been to the theme park, but, if you are in the area, then be sure to stop by.

@BoyScoutKevin - I had no idea that the reach of Asterix was so great! I only knew of a couple of animated films, and there was a live action version with Gerard Depardieu and model Laetitia Casta. A theme park? No way, that's great!
