Not perhaps the most subtle director out there, but I enjoyed his over the top movies regardless. RIP.

For some reason I thought he was older than that.

Well, that's a bummer. At one time, "Re-Animator" was the goriest, nastiest movie I'd ever seen in my young life. There are some scenes from that film which are burned into my psyche forever.

Plus, he directed one of my favorite Giant Robot Movies ever (Robot Jox)!

Rest well, sir. Thanks for the emotional scars. :D
