Dr. Phibes sequel

Has anybody seen Dr. Phibes Rises Again, the sequel to Vincent Price's great classic The Abominable Dr. Phibes?  They've both just come out on DVD and I'd like to know if the sequel's worth checking out...

YES ... I recently purchased a copy of Phibes II after not seeing it for many years. I've owned the original for a while, so maybe it's because Phibes II feels 'new' all over again, but I really enjoyed it. ... possibly more than Phibes I. It's more fixtated on straight comedy than the original, which annoys a lot of people, but I think all of the jokes hit more than they miss. Great death scenes, to ... even though Phibes' motives are fuzzier this time around.

If one liked the original, then one should like the sequel. For one reason, the deaths in the sequel are even more imaginative, then the deaths in the original, if that is possible. This from someone who has never thought Doctor Phibes was one of Price's better roles, much prefering him as Professor Rattigan in "The Great Mouse Detective." For me the pleasure of the sequel was watching two of the greatest comedic villains in film. Hugh Griffith, who played Ambrose, and Terry-Thomas, who played Lombardo in the film. Though, I do not remember either one as being particularly villainous in the film. Two more reasons for B-movie fans to watch the sequel. Peter Cushing, who played the ship's captain, and Robert "Count Yorga" Quarry, who played Biederbeack in the film. One might also try out "Madhouse," since
Robert Quarry, Vincent Price, and Peter Cushing all appeared together in the film. This would be the 1974 version of "Madhouse" and not the 1990 version. Enjoy
