There were fewer movies made in the 40s because of the war, so I'll stick to 10.

CASABLANCA (1942)

THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE (1948)
ROPE (1948)
THE MALTESE FALCON (1941)
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1946)
THE LOST WEEKEND (1945)
MESHES OF THE AFTERNOON (1943)
FANTASIA (1940)
THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI (1947)

I can add 10 more, I think...

11. DILLINGER
12. the LOST WEEKEND (story of my life!)
13. SHOCK
14. STRANGE CARGO
15. the CROSS OF LORRAINE
16. the FACE BEHIND THE MASK
17. FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN (ok- not the best horror film. Nostalgia reasons)
18. ONE MILLION BC
19. GUNG HO! - Yes, a WW 2 rascist, "lets gear the boys up to kill!", movies. But the cast is amazing. And it is truly a very BAD movie!

If you want to see it-here it is! I hope you don't run in the streets with a gun screaming "JAPS!" after seeing it.
