I AM THE BAD PHOTOSHOP EFFECT!

« on: July 22, 2020, 07:08:02 PM »

I forget whether or not this had a post already, but since I just binged the series last night, I wanted to make a post about it.

A caveman (Spear) and a small T-Rex (Fang) find themselves traveling together after losing their respective families.  They encounter an incredibly brutal world as they fight to survive.

Genndy Tartakovsky is best known as the creator of Samurai jack  and this series feels like a natural evolution of that show.  Samurai Jack was known for having incredible action set pieces and at times having very little dialogue.  Primal  has no real dialogue, save for a couple of Spear's grunts.  But nobody speaks any broken English or made up language.  There characters thoughts and feelings are all conveyed through body language and facial expressions.

And the action parts of this show do not pull its punches.  There is blood.  There is death.  And it is awesome.

Design wise, I get kind of a pulp/ early comic feel to the art.  The dinosaurs, mammoths, and other creatures have a more fantastical feel to them.  This is not meant to be scientifically accurate.  Creatures from different times and some that never really existed all share in this bruatl world.

I really enjoyed the series so far.  The second half is supposed to air later this year, and I will gladly watch it.  If you want to see what an R-rated version of One Million Years BC would be like, I suggest this animated show.

Sounds interesting. I think I'll give it a watch.

EDIT: Hah, did a search for it and discovered it was available to watch on Pornhub of all places.
