This one may actually by a fairly popular movie but I can't manage to figure it out.  I suspect I saw it on cable or VHS during the 80s or 90s.  A guy has lived in the frigid wilderness for a long time, he welcomes a new young partner (this may be a military installation or something).  He introduces the young guy to a woman who lives with him that they can 'share'.  She is a bit of an old crone that he calls 'this old buffalo woman', not very attractive, but she is very willing and helps pass the time.  The older guy was a bit of a George Kennedy/James Coburn/John Houston type, the young guy kind of a Kurt Russel type.

Sounds a bit like The Mountain Men with Charlton Heston.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

It outwardly sounds like it, but I did a quick speedwatch and that doesn't look like the one.  The scenes I am thinking of were set indoors, and in a more modern era.  I believe the woman may have been an eskimo so likely set in Alaska.
