It was crazy, bloody, wacky, gory with so-so FX - and the usual nutty Nicolas Cage performance - but I liked it: just felt sorry for those poor alpacas though. A welcome return to cinema from SA born Richard Stanley.  Cheers

I just watched that as part of my Halloween watch list.

There's some great visual effects going on and possibly some of the best Nic Cage freak outs you could ask for.

I thought it a pretty effective adaptation of the original story, re-set in modern times.

The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill from Creepshow (1982) is still my favorite loose adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's "The Colour Out Of Space."

I never actually thought of that as a Lovecraft adaption before but you're right.  It does hit all the key points.

Stephen King is one of of the strangest looking dudes I've ever seen. His pre-90s literary work is immensely enjoyable, but man, does he look weird.

There was a version from 1966 called DIE, MONSTER, DIE with Boris Karloff. It was -eh- it had Karloff and the soon to be late Nick Adams.

He was an admitted heavy drinker for a number of years. I think he dabbled in the cocaine too. Not saying that's why he looks weird, but that is the likely reason.  TeddyR
