HALLOWEEN KILLS (2021)  Un-inventive mean-spirited crap that turns into a Michael Myers tribute.   Thumbdown Lookingup

I just can't bring myself to watch this one. I think it comes down to the plot twist of the previous instalment.

After reading that, I'm glad I didn't see it.

I admit to little interest in most HALLOWEEN films (at least after the first 3) so I did not follow or expect much in the way of plot.
The acting is particularly good with JAMIE LEIGH CURTIS and another survivor actor of age... it is hard to watch the two punt ownership back and forth of the football of blame that each claims for him or herself... male and female, hospital bed to hospital bed... and ever'body GITS a SHOT at Mikey... Wham!  Ooo!  Yeah!  Uh... WTF?  Y'know I felt like crying at the end for poor ol' undead Mikey...

HEAT
is 1972 and much too early for anybody to be "copying" JOHN WATERS (who may owe a bit of a debt to WARHOL - MORRISSEY's films).  But, I don't doubt it's a bore.

The dialogue is written almost exactly like any John Waters movie...but delivered so flat and lifelessly.

Been watching a lot of weird roughies from the 70's and 80's for God knows what reason. A lot of Avon's roughies have this weird mix of being legitimately messed up horror experiences and also feature exquisite "so bad it's good" acting, especially whenever George Payne is involved.

Recently watched the infamous "Taming of Rebecca" and Payne's performance as the headmaster/dean is so over-the-top evil to the point it becomes cartoonish and sort of takes the sting out of an otherwise messed up roughie.

The Ghost (1963) Staring Barbara Steele

Italian movie set in Scotland.

The year is 1910, & Dr. Hitchcock is both sharp-tempered & depressed. There's a reason for that; he's paralyzed from the waste down, & his wife (Steele) is having an affair with Dr. Livingstone, who Dr. Hitchcock hired to take care of him. Ya see, Hitchcock's developed a regimen of poison's & antidotes which he thinks'll cure his paralysis. But, with Livingstone administrating the treatment, Dr. Livingstone has the perfect opportunity to off Dr. Hitchcock, so Hitchcock's wife & Livingstone can keep the old Doc's mansion & money. Guess what happens when they take that opportunity?

There are some moderately creepy scenes once the soapy intro is over, but this film is a bit slow, & I was able to guess the ending. Still a passable haunted house/mystery film. Kinda like a cheap versin of Rebecca (1940).  Steele would've made a good Lady Macbeth.

"No Ordinary Hero"  (2013)

Wow, this movie is self serving and pretensions. Everyone involved has zero self awareness.
The "heroes" are all blameless.
The "villains" are practically twiddling their mustaches.

Every character in this movie is wholly unbelievable.

"Goin' Coconuts" (1978) with Donny and Marie Osmond popped up in my "recommended videos" on YouTube for some un-godly reason, and I couldn't help it... I clicked "play."

It played like a 30 minute sitcom episode stretched out to 90 minutes. The only thing that kept me watching till the end were the lingering effects of my childhood crush on Marie Osmond.  TeddyR
