The Demon is another one you should try for sheer WTF madness and weirdness: photographed by one of my mentors Vincent G Cox ASC.

If you've seen it, let me know what you thought.  Smile

ANGEL HEART, THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW and TETSUO are all good movies that should be a treat.

PARASITE is a trick.

One '80s horror film I do think was cerebral was The Changeling, with George C. Scott. I respect the brooding spookiness and the fact it is in the intelligent branch of the genre that includes films like Hill House (shout out to you, Ronny).

Good list. Personally I like to end my October/Halloween viewings on a higher note, so I would watch them in this order:

 1. Parasite (1982)
 2. Vicious Lips (1986)
 3. Trapped Alive (1988)
 4. The Awakening (1980)
 5. Wacko (1982)
 6. Mausoleum (1983)
 7. Voyage of the Rock Aliens (1984)
 8. Hangar 18 (1980)
 9. The Bride (1985)
 10. Video Violence (1987)
 11. The Last Horror Film (1982)
 12. I Saw What You Did (1988)
 13. Communion (1989)
 14. Evilspeak (1981)
 15. The Initiation (1984)
 16. Impulse (1984)
 17. The Prowler (1981)
 18. Link (1986)
 19. Vamp (1986)
 20. Alligator (1980)
 21. Warning Sign (1985)
 22. Parents (1989)
 23. Explorers (1985)
 24. The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988)
 25. Sweet Home (1989)
 26. The Beyond (1981)
 27. StageFright (1987)
 28. The Quiet Earth (1985)
 29. Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989)
 30. Angel Heart (1987)
 31. Threads (1984)

I actually did a Mausoleum (1983) + Mortuary (1983) double feature last year.
Communion (1989) is such a weird bad movie. The book was terrifying, the movie is like a train wreck. Christopher Walken yells his lines and it all feels improvised. Not scary at all but it has a cool Halloween scene.

I would say 1-15 are bad but entertaining movies. 16-31 are pretty good.

I start from oldest to newest by date. For me its the challenge, to discover new films and spreading films apart keeps from getting in strings of duds.

The blob. 88.

Seen it and not a big fan. Effects are great but the characters are stupid/unlikable and the remake ruins any mystery of the Blob.

All finished. Happy Halloween!

My rough personal top 10:
1. Threads (1984)
2. The Quiet Earth (1985)
3. Explorers (1985)
4. Sweet Home (1989)
5. StageFright (1987)
6. Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989)
7. Warning Sign (1985)
8. The Beyond (1981)
9. The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988)
10. Alligator (1980)

Dishonable mentions:
1. Vicious Lips (1986) - Charles Band at his worst: boring and annoying. Even the awesome tunes of Sue Saad can't save it.
2. Trapped Alive (1988) - Great idea, horrid pacing. Cameron Mitchell at his sleepiest.
3. Voyage of the Rock Aliens (1984) - A musical that can not decide what it's wants to be. A sci-fi spoof? MTV video? Horror spoof? Beach movie?
4. Wacko (1982) - A lot of talented people and a great idea for a genre to be spoofed. Sadly the jokes get redundant very quickly.
