Not a fan of Elvis but I do respect him and his memory deserves better than this. If this had been a poorly-made movie it'd be easy to trash it but it was actually well-acted and it held my interest, but it concentrated so much on negativity that it felt like one long slam of most of the people depicted. Elvis' generosity to everyone around him and even to strangers was as as legendary as his undeniable onstage talent, yet all mention of that was absent, and any reference to Elvis supporting others was cast in the light of victimization, and above anything else that marred what could have been a better film. I'm saying this under the good movies thread because this film was good in its way, just dark and unkind. I'd give it barely a B-.

It was just a biopic. Biopics generally suck. I define biopic as "a movie not interesting enough to be fiction and not accurate enough to be documentary."

That is pretty much my view on the inaccurate horror that is Clint Eastwood's Invictus  Buggedout Buggedout

Elvis as a nightmare mannequin, in the dark alone, after the cynical carnival has closed.

I found it surprisingly enjoyable. And I say "surprisingly" because I'm not a fan of Luhrmann's other glitter epics. But the story is interesting -I was surprised afterwards when I checked the events of the film against Wikipedia, and most of them turned out true- and the two lead actors are fantastic.

There is hope that Luhrmann will become a good filmmaker one day, after all.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Reminds me of one trivial point, where it is believed that of all impersonators, the one that Elvis admired was Andy Kaufman.

I think the best Elvis impersonator was Elvis, poor man.

The best portrayal of Elvis on film was Bruce Campbell.
