I hope Top Gun Maverick wins a few but I predict the awards will go to films which weren't as popular at the box office.

I am guessing the campaign to get Terrifier 2 a Oscar nod didn't work?

Trevor: Sorry, but I hope not; not a fan of TOP GUN. Anyway, EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE was crowd-pleasing hit that's going to win a lot of acting awards and maybe even Best Picture.

Alex: nope.

My post on my awards group's votes was close enough to the Oscar slate to work as a preview: https://366weirdmovies.com/online-film-critics-society-26th-annual-awards-with-our-votes/

I want Puss in Boots to win best animated but it's almost certainly losing to either Turning Red or Pinocchio.

As for Everything, Everywhere, All at Once, I hope it wins every single thing it's nominated for.

I will vomit if Blonde wins Best Actress. The fact it's nominated is embarrassing.

As predicted Robert Eggers and The Northman is again snubbed so to the Oscars:

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once is about 20 minutes WAY too long. I would overall say it's good not great.

Not a Tom Cruise fan so I haven't seen Top Gun: Maverick. I'll get to it eventually.

The animation award is a joke as for the most part it's in Di$ney's pocket.

I used to look forward to the Oscars but haven't in years. Too self-indulgent. Too activist. Too long. Too out of touch. And frankly too boring. I usually don't even know what's been nominated or what the nominated movies are about. Didn't used to be the case but is now.

I remain doubtful that a movie with kung fu in it will win in any of the major categories. That being said, I have no horse in this race.

I've felt that for several years at least that the Oscars weren't really relevant anymore (and it doesn't matter what they do diversity-wise, it won't solve the problem). Mind you, I feel the same way about the Razzies. They seem to be a joke that has gone past its sell-by date. Judging from their declining viewing figures I guess other people are having similar feelings on it. Still, last years figures were up. I wonder if that was just a one-off, or a reversing of the trend.

I'll need to have a look at this years nominations and see if I've watched anything up for an award.

EDIT: I've seen 5 of the movies up for awards and there are a couple more I plan on seeing. It has been a long times since I've seen that many of the contenders, or had interest in seeing them.

I read that because Danielle Deadwyler and the film Till were passed over for nominations, the AAMPAS has now launched an investigation into possible flouting of Oscar rules.  Buggedout

You didn't get nominated: get over it.

Is it bad that all I remember from last years Oscars was the slap?

I couldn'r even tell you who won best supporting actor/actress without looking it up.

Same here. I think last year I'd only seen one of the movies nominated and had no interest in seeing any others.

You (and everyone) should definitely see "Everything Everywhere..." It's a sci-fi comedy, nothing at all like the usual boring Oscar contenders. "Banshees of Inisherin" is also great, but its more in the usual Oscar vein.
