AMC is showing THE RETURN OF COUNT YORGA Saturday at 10pm Eastern Standard time. I've read alot about this film in the fan magazines and am looking forward to seeing this Dracula film. I'm hoping they show the original sometime as well.

Y'know, I've seen this on the shelf of the video store, read about it once in a while--but never do I see so much as a mention of the original, "Count Yorga, Vampire." Anybody know whazzup?

Even as a kid, I remember they aired the second one on TV far more frequently than the first.

Maybe it's Mariette Hartley.

Count Yorga with Robert Quarry -- a good actor in a very terrible(good terrible/good-bad) film --.  I've stated here before my love of films that leave in shots of camera and crew.  The original Count Yorga has some doozies!!  ...along with scary vampire white-face makeup that ends at the chin-line.  I could go on -- many mistakes herein.  See it.

Oooooh, now you're makin' me horny...

(One of my favorite bad-movies 'symptoms' is the incomplete, oops-budget-ran-out make-up monster. For example, the neck-up monster-punk in "Laserblast," the half-demon, half-skinny-pale-boy wizard in "Conan The Destroyer," or "Trog." It was 1970, I can't believe they didn't know "Trog" was being shot in color; and yet that's the only explanation for the granite-gray mask the actor wears...)

Blagh. Ugly mess, fun for fans of home invasion robberies but few others. It camped it up a wee bit waaaay too late in the picture (the priest was funny in the end), and there were the occasional arty touches, but Robert Quarry stinks the place up like boot feet and the only engaging characters are minor ones. Foo.

Jeez, them living dead zombos that rise up in the film's opening scene were buried pretty shallow, hah? They sit up, dirt falls off, they're ready to shamble! Who does their laundry?

Vampire conversion in eight seconds! Hey, we have a new record!

Sigh -- I guess I'm glad I never saw this sequel.  Don't let it put you off looking for the first one, though . . .
