Since somebody brought up Big Guy & Rusty I'll bring up my current fave, Big O.  I really really really like this show!  Hero Roger Smith, unlike 99.99% of anime heroes, is neither an idiot nor a jerk.  He's a really cool guy with a heart of gold -- and his very own giant robot!  Do I have to tell you how much I want to be Roger Smith?  He does what I'd do if I found a giant robot just lying around: he uses it to fight other giant robots!  It's amazing how many situations the guy gets into that necessitate the use of a giant robot, but that's what's so cool!  For example, Roger goes to investigate reactivating a hydroelectric power plant and finds a giant electric eel living in the reservoir.  Good thing he's got that giant robot!  Or his android friend Enstro is kidnapped and forced to pilot a robot and destroy the city.  Good thing Roger has his own robot!  If you've never had the burning desire to own your very own giant robot (and live in a converted office building with a cool butler and cute robot chick) then you might not like Big O as much as me.

I knew I was hooked when I found myself cheering Big O's arrival in the third episode.  "All right, Big O's here!  You're going down, Giant Electric Eel thing!"

LOL!

Damn, I wished I got Toonami up here. I have to make do with Gundam Wing, which went down hill after the first 4 episodes.

Scott, did you watch Gundam Wing at the late night showing on Cartoon network? They actualy showed a guy shoot and kill a character! Who's thunk it. Yeah,Gundam lost me about 8 ephisodes into it. Its so long! Sheesh! And after you come to reconise the same "beauty shot" of an exploding Mecha, used over and agine, it gets old real fast. Cost effective, but boreing!

I live in Western Canada and don't get Cartoon Network.

Yeah, the repeative scene use is what p**ses me off about anime on TV.

The worst instance of this I witnessed on the old Spider Man cartoon that came on in the early 90s.  It was the episode where he teamed up with the X-Men.  They used the same animation of The Beast lowering his head in shame SEVEN TIMES in a 22-minute period!  Ye gads!
