Man, this flick is awesome. It's weird and sadistic but it's cool. Favorite scenes:

The coffin for the elephant (they have to use a pickup truck to carry it!) and the immediately following scene where the crazed villagers tear up the elephant carcass and eat it. Jodorowsky apparently has a thing about elephants.

Six wrestlers vs. a pillar of fluff...and the pillar of fluff is winning! Heheheheh!

The main character (I forgot his name AGAIN!) tries to imitate the Invisible Man scene-by-scene.

In the beginning where said guy think's he's an eagle. He sits in a tree and eats a raw fish accordingly.

The famous scene where the elephant starts bleeding to death and the kid keeps weeping over it. Awwwwwwwwww....(yech)

Night Of The Bridal Dead! (you'll have to see the movie.)

The church patrons stall the wrecking crew by playing music!

Yup, this film is great. Now I think I'm ready for more Al Jodorowsky. Now, if only I could FIND his other #$@%#%$@! films on video to rent someplace...I'll be glad when he finally settles things with that Kevin Whats-His-Name.

(Note: I saw the Blockbuster version, and I think it's just fine so PHHHTPTTTTTTBBBBBBBBBBPPPPPPPPHTTT!)

I own this really really wretched copy of "El Topo"(The Mole) that one of Jodoworsky's hangers-on (Kevin Hayes/still-photgrapher/also friend of Allen Ginsberg) duped for me in '86.  What is very amazing about it to me is how much of the story involves retellings of well-known(To those who read such things) Zen parables.  I've never seen Santa Sangre or The Magic Mountain but will always have a soft spot in my heart for El Topo.
If this type of Euro-weirdness appeals to you, don't miss out on Un Chien Andalou or Blood of a Poet (Un Sangre de Poete) by Bunuel & Dali and Cocteau respectively.  Both of these films are nearly 70 years old now and can out-weird 98.6% of the so-called fringe films available today.
