I saw where they might be giants is #1 in paid downloads, which is pretty funny if you think about it.

My favorite "band" is Mobb Deep followed by

1 Capone N Noriega
2. Guided by Voices
3. Ghost
4. Popul Vuh
5. The Skatalites

frannie

1) the aquabats
2) bouncing souls
3) the brodys (college band from sacramento, ca)
4) flogging molly (one of the best live bands i have ever seen)
5) bad religion

Fearless Freep

Rush
Dream Theater
Yes
Count Basie Orchestra

Not much else, I'm mostly into individual artists (John Patitucci, Dave Weckl, Miles Davis, etc..)

Bob James
Shadowfax
The Cramps
Goblin

John

Shakira (I know, she's not a 'group')

Other than that, I like the occasional song, but I've never really followed any particular group.

Chadzilla

I assume that question was directed at me.

Yes, I do.  I have only published one story so far, in the book Eros ex Machina.  It is out of print right now, but the Venus Book Club has just bought up the rights to reprint it for a book club edition.

I also write romances (none published yet).

J.R.

Most of the bands you mentioned, Freep, are famous for their drummers. Are you a drummer or is it just coincidence?

For me-

1. The Ramones
2. The Replacements
3. "Weird Al" Yankovic. (yes, that counts as a band).
4. The Cure
5. Saves The Day

Brian Ringler

flogging molly is one hell of a live show, caught them at warped tour in minneapolis while it was pouring rain this summer

Brock

Here's my top five of the moment in no particular order:

The New Pornographers
Weezer
White Stripes
Cody Chestnutt
Phantom Planet

raj

All time favorite:  The Beatles.
Others:
Black Flag (especially the early Henry Rollins years),
Stiff Little Fingers (only heard them via vinyl, but they'd kick U2's butt, not an easy task),
Lots o' Blues folks:  Muddy, Howlin' Wolf, Koko Taylor . . .
I got The Band's DVD, The Last Waltz recently and have been watching it a lot.  The music's good and I like how it's not a linear concert.

Offthewall

Alot of these I don' t think you'll know but whatever
1)Five Iron Frenzy (funniest Live shows I've ever seen)
2)Relient K
3)Calibretto 13
4)Ben Folds Five
5)Weezer
6)Supertones
7)Blindside (old stuff)
8)White Stripes
9)Vines
10) Norah Jones

also really good is the Deadlines, I advice everyone to download it. It's Goth/Horror rock. Every song is about a horror film or a horror theme (Zombies, Vampires) and it sounds like old 50's horror film music Organ and all.

Will

Alice Donut
Goblin
Mr. Bungle/Fantomas/Tomahawk
Ween
Frank Zappa
Clawhammer
Dead Kennedys
Arbus
