According to the below story, Rep Lofgren (Dem) has introduced a bill to protect the rights of the people.  The bill amends the DMCA law to allow the copying of CDs, DVDs, etc. for personal use, even if encryption must be broken to do so.  This is a big step in the right direction for our rights.   Just like I wrote my congressmen about the bad Berman bill, I intend to write them in support of this one.

Bravo. CDs, DVDs, etc. are art, and art should not be subsidized or held to the whim of big business fatcats. If I own a CD, computer game or DVD and make a copy using my own burning software, everything involved is my property and I should be able to do with it what I wish. Besides, they charge obscene ammounts of money for pieces of plastic, so I'm not the bad guy.
