I was really surprised with this one. I expected an average disappointing retread of the great original film, but it was really good. The effects and sets are amazing, especially the effects involving the passage of time. It reminded me of those great adventure films from the 60's (like the original Time Machine or Journey To The Center Of The Earth) with the huge sets and great production values. Spielberg was to direct this at one point, but who needs him?
