Thats a neat idea Waffleman, i'd like to see that. I was thinking that JASON-X the new jason film this year should be directed by a real director since its suppose to take place in space. Jason is preserved in ice or something on earth and long after humans have left the planet, someone arrives and picks him up not knowing who/what Jason is. Its a great idea, but i just hope they can make it good because i've never bothered to watch any of the sequels. The film dosn't even have to be a slasher film, because Jason already has a reputation and the audience would only have to imagine what happend during the usual gore scenes. right? The director could go for future worlds, sci-fi, murder with a storyline. Maybe Jason becomes a hero in a future world gone soft.  Maybe the aliens use Jason in gladitorial games with ancient Roman type arena's, or something.

I'd actually rather see Micheal Myers from HALLOWEEN play that movie. The boogey man in outer space.

Great ideas, but Jason X is just going to be another slasher movie, only the setting is going to be different (does anyone remember Jason takes Manhattan?)

Some human students come back to earth to study the history of the planet(humans live on oter planets after the earth finally died,) but they come across 2 cyro-tubes, one containing  a teen-age girl, the other carring Jason. The students take the tubes back to their ship, but unleash Jason in the process....

Those are all interesting ideas, which is the reason why they'll never be used.  I actually had high hopes for Jason Takes Manhattan... My God!  The squandered possibilities!  Jason takes a walk through Central Park at midnight (Death Wish, eat your heart out!),  Jason versus the NYPD.  Even better, Jason kills the wrong person and winds up with the full force of the Mafia on his undead butt.

But no, deviating from the formula is too risky for the beancounters.  If I recall correctly, Jason spends five minutes in New York.  The rest might as well have been at Crystal Lake.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.

don't get me wrong i really enjoy watching the Friday the 13th movies....if i'm in the mood for a good laugh...they're just really cheesy fun movies.  I guess i'm the only one who thinks the whole Jason in space thing idea is pretty lame.  At least the Critters space movie had a basis, and it made sense.  The Hellraiser: Bloodline(space movie) was stretching it a little bit.  But Jason?  In space?  Found by a group of scientist and then taken back to their ship?  Nahhh...I think i'll pass....I'm still waiting for them to make the Freddy Vs. Jason movie.  By the way, which one do you think would win in a fight?

Well, I was never a fan of Freddy, so I'll pick Jason. I'd rather see a triple threat match by adding Micheal Myers to the mix.

What is the deal with slasher films anyway? If I was doing a slasher film that had the momentum of Friday the thirteenth, I would do all sorts of stuff with it: Jason vs Godzilla, Jason vs. a mexican wrestler, Jason lost in time. Jason vs. terminator. Jason gets cloned, Jason vs. the conspiracy from the x-files. Jason vs. Batman. Jason on a cruise ship. Jason vs. the mummy.
See, I came up with those in like two minutes, why is it so hard for people to do new things with slasher films?
