Now that I've seen both versions of the ring I can compare them. I remember a while back there was some talk about the remake on here but now that its out I haven't seen any one talk about them. I saw the remake first and I thought it wasn't scary, but it gives off that freaky atmosphere and creeps you out, but I wasn't SCARED per se. but I had a great time in the theater, people were crying they were so scared, it was fun.

I thought the original also has a great atmosphere, and the incredible ending is just as effective.  But I thought that the first and last 'kills' where the faces of the people get kind of embossed on the screen was a little cheezy and kinda killed the atmosphere. Besides some major differences its pretty similar to the remake. The remake has alot of the bigger plot twists from the original in tact.

What did you all think about it?

I really liked The Ring. It has a few really good jump scares and an overall crepy atmosphere. I'm an old horror veteran, and even I was tempted to cover my eyes a few times. Naomi Watts is really good, playing the role as frightened yet strong.

I liked it as well, it being an old fashioned thriller (you know, the 'boring' kind that focuses more on character and mood than gore and cheap thrills).  The movie has led to a classic moment in my life though.  Shortly after returning from the theater, I stepped into the kitchen in our apartment and glanced out the window.  Right at our neighbor's balconey, upon which someone had set out a mop to dry.  I damned near jumped outta my pants! :)
