Why do we love bad movies so much? I watch them because i find them entertaining and my Dad and i would always rent them. Now it is a kind of way to remember him and do something that we both loved. Also what was your first one. Mine was Highlander when i was seven or eight.

1.  They're funny.

2.  They're often more original and creative than mainstream movies.

1) They are a funny break between blockbuster movies. And since the last half of the 80s blockbusters tend to look too much alike, so B-Movies are a good alternative to watch something really different. It's kinda freshening watching a movie where the settings don't blow up after every scene, or violence that is not afraid of being too disturbing or sickening. Not to mention the T&A.

2) For nostalgia. Many of us watch B-Movies that look alike or remind us of the crappy movies we watched and loved when we were kids. Watching B-Movies allows us to abandon all adult prejudices and simply, have fun.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

I totally agree with Neville's first point. B-movies have a level of energy and spirit that big-budget movies (for the most part) simply can't have, no matter how talented the people involved are. The lower the budget, the fewer investors you have to worry about offending, and the more chances you can take.

I think the first true "b-movie" I ever watched and enjoyed as such was probably Night of the Lepus, which I saw on TV at Easter when I was 11 or so. Bunny rabbits running around miniature sets, covered in ketchup blood, in what was ostensibly a serious movie, was hilarious in a way I had never experienced before. A year or two afterwards, I was turned on to MST3K and Ed Wood, and the rest is history.

Well, as I said in another post, there's something about seeing how fake the rubber knives and rubber monsters are that is comforting, in a way.  As if many of the things that threaten may also be as illusory.
Also, the sheer ineptness of it all sometimes goes as far as to create another world, beyond that intended by the director.
Something weird/Something wild/Something magical . . .
I know I would be a lesser person without having experienced "They Saved Hitler's Brain" or "Robot Monster" . . . .

I think part of the reason we enjoy bad movies because it's a bit of an adventure. When you pick up some obscure horror/sci-fi/kung fu movie you could get something surprisingly decent, so bad it's funny, bad, really bad, and so bad it's depressing. 'Tis a game of Russian Roulette we play, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Hey, that rhymes. It would make a good lyric, hmmm...

Why Bad Movies?
Well, if it wasn't for bad movies, Andrew would have to find something else to do, and we would all be much poorer for it. Thanks, Andrew.
On a more serious note, there are alot of "bad" movies out there, that I find alot more enjoyable then the so called "good" movies, say "Titanic" for instance.
And my first bad movie, that would have to be "The Fly." which I saw in 1958, and I haven't been the same since. Enjoy!
